China Want to Make Indonesia as a base in Southeast Asia

JAKARTA, – Construction of a fast train from Jakarta to Bandung carried out in cooperation between Indonesia and China through Indonesia PT Fast Trains China (KCIC).

In this cooperation, China’s stake is 40 percent while Indonesia 60 percent.

China Development Bank (CDB) allowed the loan to finance the project.

“China really wants to get in (investments) in Indonesia. they wanted to make Indonesia their base in Southeast Asia, “said Finance Director of PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk, or Wika, Steve Kosasih in his office, Jakarta, Thursday (22/12/2016).

China considers Indonesia as a showcase of Southeast Asia, following the establishment of the whole infrastructure there.

According to Steve, the roads in China is good. Almost all places there have passed the train or the urban rail transit.

“On the contrary, they still have a large capital and technology are good. If they do not do anything, could be in bankruptcy,” says Steve.

Based on this, he said, China provide various facilities to ease lending for KCIC.

One of them, with a tenor of long repayment and low interest rates flat.

According to Steve, with their these facilities, CDB almost no benefit.

Wika itself is one state-owned enterprise (SOE) is incorporated in KCIC.

Three other state enterprises were also included in the consortium is PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), PTPN VIII (Persero) and PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk.

The composition of the ownership is each Wika 38 percent, KAI and PTPN VIII by 25 percent, and Jasa Marga is 12 percent.
