Minister Counsellor for Economic, Infrastructure You Governance, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Steven Barrclough express it, when the High-Level Dialogue & Workshop “Program sAIIG Supporting Role of Local Governments Achieve Target Achievement SDGs in the Sanitation Sector”, in Hotel Sultan, Jakarta, (29.11.2016).

“The Australian government aware of the issue of sanitation is a big challenge. We are ready to intervene to create real working with our partners from Indonesia,” said Steven.

He continued, sanitation issues related to labor, public health, and the economy.

As the real work activities, sanitation issues are also part of the economic growth. According to Steven, the sanitation issues in the field is the real work economically to society.

The real work, he added, is done in two ways. The first is how people get wastewater services through the installation of septic tanks in the houses and the installation of a connection via pipeline to the communal septic tank.

In this case, the task of the local government (LG) is to provide services for fertilizing mud and disposal.

The second way is with a combination of methods sewerage systems to city scale communal piping, through Community Based Sanitation program (SANIMAS) or other programs, for example with funding through the Special Allocation Fund (DAK).
