Underwater Tunnel Had Proposed in Musi River


KOMPAS.com JAKARTA – The government mewacanakan to build an underwater tunnel in cooperation with the Netherlands.

In talks Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Republic of Indonesia together with the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment, the tunnel will be built in the Kapuas River, Pontianak, West Kalimantan.

Yet before it was decided to be built in Kapuas, revealed plans to build the infrastructure of its kind in the Musi River, Palembang, South Sumatra.

“we already have the innovation floating houses and floating bridge, now we want to try Immerse tunnel,” said Basuki Hadimuljono PUPR Minister, at the Ministry PUPR, Jakarta, Monday (21/11/2016).

the reason, many studies conducted in Musi River at a cost Budget (APBN) is concentrated in Palembang .

Today, studies that have been done is for the construction of the bridge Musi 4 and 6.

Therefore, the study moved to the Kapuas, West Kalimantan, with consideration of a very large river.

this river requires access to the national road tunnel. Physical Planning or Detailed Engineering Design (DED) 3 Kapuas bridge was finished in 2014.

The essence of the project and the formulation of a plan for the study and DED underwater tunnel in the Kapuas River is expected to be submitted to the Embassy of the Netherlands in late November 2016.
