JAKARTA – The government confirmed that Presidential Decree (Decree) on the land bank rose in 2017 following the establishment of a team of expert land bank.

Minister of Agricultural and Spatial Planning / National Land Agency (ATR / BPN) Sofyan Djalil , said that the provision of land through land bank is urgent because land prices continue to rise.

Sofyan said, if the price of land can not be controlled then it will be difficult to build housing, especially for low-income communities (MBR).

“the most important land bank is to control the market price so it was not like the present conditions. If now the land of inflation is very high so the MBR increasingly difficult to have the home ground,” the minister said in the Economic Forum Nusantara in Jakarta, Wednesday (14/12 ).

He also said the government is preparing a draft law on the land as a legal umbrella for the provision of land. According to him, land use should take precedence in the public interest, including housing.
“The land will be crucial inventory that will be managed either by the land bank,” he said.

Lead Advisor to the Minister ATR / BPN Sector Banks Land, Hima Sugoto Arief, said the current need of land to build housing is very high. Meanwhile, the government has not been able to master the ownership of land. Thus, upon issuance of the Presidential Land Bank, the team of experts can immediately take strategic steps to control the land.

“We’re drafting a manuscript academic. Already 60-70% toward regulation. We are also looking to harmonize in the Ministry of ATR / BPN, so that the land bank it has a strong position in the provision of land for public purposes, “said Hima.

Hima also revealed the problems faced today is the amount of land with the status dormant (idle) so it does not can be used for construction on it. Thus, further Hima, it will immediately register the land, and then change its status.

“In Indonesia we already have the data, there are 400 thousand hectares (ha) of land were abandoned. The potential is not great, but the target of next year do we start changing the status of land to be used for the public interest, “he said.
