JAKARTA – Assistant of Economy and Development of Riau Islands Province Syamsul Bahrum said, the existence of accommodation like resorts in Bintan has encouraged the tourism industry.
According to him, the tourism sector has contributed about USD 67 billion in 2014 and Rp 78 billion in 2015.
“this year (October) has reached Rp 74 billion. The target is to reach USD 100 billion until the end of 2016, “he said, in Bintan, recently.
Syamsul said, similar to the Batam, Bintan has been to strengthen his position as the best tourist destinations in Indonesia. He called the hotel occupancy in Bintan and Batam to 80% on weekends.
“Bintan is already attracting the attention of tourists from around the world such as Asia, Europe, Australia for private and beautiful beaches. We expect the sector MICE can also be increased along with the meeting between the international level here, “he said.
Meanwhile, PT Bintan Lagoon will expand by developing tourist area of Bintan Lagoon Resort (BLR) on an area of 310 hectares (ha) in the next five years. The Company will work with national and foreign investors in the project. On the other hand, BLR is also conducting a rebranding after acquired by investors from Singapore.
President Bintan Lagoon Resort Moe Ibrahim, said, BLR has had a masterplan for the development of the tourist area. Although reluctant to mention the amount of investment required, Moe said it would build a different property as before. Among them, according to Moe the villas, retail space, beauty center, as well as a budget hotel. In addition, the hospitality school will be built in the BLR.
